We are Christians

We are Christians. We believe in Jesus Christ. We are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We believe that Jesus came to this earth for the purpose of being our Savior. We believe that Christ died for our sins so we can be free of our sins.

As a member of the church, our beliefs can be viewed in the 13 Articles of Faith. For those who do not know where to find those, I will list them.
1. We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
2. We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.
3. We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
4. We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourthl Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
5. We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
6. We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
7. We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
8. We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
9. We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
10. We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisaical glory.
11. We calim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
12. We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
13. We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul--We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things. (History of the Church, Vol. 4, pp.535-541)

I feel this post is important for our friends and families to know who we are and what we believe. I don't know how many times I have been asked if I am Christian or if I believe in Jesus. I always answered sarcastically..."I am a member of the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter day Saints."

I do believe Jesus died for us, and more specifically for me. I know he knew what mistakes I was capable of doing, and knew that I would not be able to pay the price. He gave his life for me. I know that he didn't only come to this earth to die for me. He built His church. He built the church to show us how to worship Him.

I grew up in the church, but recently I was 'converted'. I now know what it means to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ. One of the things that differentiates us from other 'Christians' is in the first Article of Faith. "We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost." In the book of St. John, chapter 1 it talks about how Christ is the Word and the Word is God. Yes, that is correct. This chapter has very little to do with "God, the Eternal Father,... and in the Holy Ghost. The chapter is about Jesus our Savior and Jesus being the God of Earth. We believe that God, the Father is the God of our Spirits and is the literal father of Jesus Christ. God, the Father is who we pray to in the Name of his Son, Jesus Christ. This concept always confused me growing up because of St. John.

My wish is to anyone who has questions, whether it be curiosity or interest, to please let me know. I'll answer your questions the the very best of my ability. But please do not think that any question is unworthy of being asked.

After reading this and pondering it for a few days, I realized that I am missing out on an opportunity to share my testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I just went public with my blog. Thank you for sharing your testimony!
